Joining Information for New Cadets

The Air Training Corps is open to all physically fit males and females between the ages of 13 and 18 years. The ATC offers so many more challenging activities than other similar organisations in New Zealand. Remember - joining ATC does not place you under any obligation to join the NZ Defence Force.

To join the Air Training Corps, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 13 or attending secondary school.
  • Be of sufficient health standard and physical fitness such that you are able to participate in the majority of the unit activities.

To see if the Air Training Corps is for you, come along to one of our parade nights. We parade on Monday nights from 1830 hrs (6:30 pm) until 2115 hrs (9:15 pm). For further information, please either email us or call us on 09 298 3338. We will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also download a booklet outlining some important information for new cadets.

The Squadron holds Bushcraft camps throughout the year as an opportunity for Cadets to develop their Bushcraft skills first-hand as well as being given leadership opportunities. The Squadron also partakes in visits to military bases where cadets are given a chance to see the Armed Forces at work.

Cadets also have the opportunity to participate in regional and national camps and courses designed to further enhance cadet training already carried out at unit level. These activities include the following:
